Sean O'Sullivan
Business and social entrepreneur

Sean O'Sullivan earned B.S. in electrical engineering from Rensselaer in 1985. He is one of the founders of MapInfo, a global software company headquartered in Rensselaer's Technology Park. Sean grew up as Computer programmer mastering 19 languages. After working for IBM-RTP, IBM-Boca Raton, DSA, etc., he co-founded a rock band (JSF), Sonic Recording Studios, dot-bomb (NetCentric Corp), etc. besides MapInfo. His urge to widen the sphere took him to University of Southern California where he did MFA in Film Production. After the award-winning documentary film “String Worms at Budd Terrace” about dementia in the elderly, he is looking for next film project which would probably be a romantic comedy or a music video, could be a sci-fi action adventure or may be another documentary!

While covering the war as a documentary filmmaker in Iraq during the period from March-May 2003, O'Sullivan traveled among the city's decimated landmarks, burned-out buildings and looted warehouses; he realized that Iraq had both an enormous number of unemployed workers and an

enormous amount of work to be done. JumpStart International was founded in 2003 in the aftermath of the war in Iraq which focuses on rebuilding and reconstruction in war-torn Iraq and in the Gaza Strip.
