Judges & Criteria

Judges for the Elevator Pitches will be:

  • Stu Benton ’62‚ Serial Entrepreneur, President of the Rensselaer Alumni Association
  • Charles Carletta‚ Secretary of the Institute and General Counsel‚ Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
  • Linnda Caporael‚ Professor‚ Science & Technology Studies
  • Linda Teitelman McCloskey, Director, The Archer Center for Student Leadership Development
  • Phil Weilerstein, Executive Director, NCIIA - National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance

Judging criteria for the competition will be:

  • How well does the Elevator Pitch respond to the 4 key questions within the 90-second time limit?
    • - What is the problem you are solving?
    • - How are you solving the problem?
    • - Who are you solving it for?
    • - How is your solution different from what is already available?
  • How creative is the original idea?
  • How creative is the presentation?
  • The quality of the presentation style, poise, skill and clarity.
  • Most likely to succeed - the actual potential of the business, venture or idea/innovation.
