Harry Ruda is a high-tech, serial entrepreneur whose career spans over 35 years in the areas of information technology, software, and telecomm. He has founded and/or served as Chief Executive Officer of six high-tech start-ups, raising more than $100 million in investments from venture capital, angel networks and corporate strategic investors. These investments have returned in excess of $350 million through strategic acquisitions.
Mr. Ruda is presently President and CEO of Wing Power Energy, an early stage developer of wind power energy solutions sold to major consumer brands that have distributed retail sites.
He is also co-founder and Chairman of Desktone, a leading provider of cloud-based virtual desktops sold to small and medium sized corporations. He served as Desktone’s CEO from its founding in 2006 through 2010 before assuming the role of Chairman.
Prior to Desktone, Mr. Ruda co-founded Softricity as its CEO in June, 1999. Softricity was an innovator and market share leader in application virtualization and ultimately was acquired by Microsoft in July 2006 in one of the largest software acquisitions in New England.
Prior to Softricity, Mr. Ruda was President and CEO of ITS, a manufacturer of video access equipment for IP networks until its acquisition by Artel Video in March, 1999. He also co-founded and was VP Sales and Marketing for VC-backed Network Switching Systems, a manufacturer of integrated voice and data switching equipment which was ultimately acquired by BBN Communications.
He has also held the following positions: VP Field Operations for Bell Atlantic, VP Sales and Marketing for Bridgeway Corporation (a network management software company based in Redmond, WA) and President and CEO of Glyph Systems (an Andover-based start-up specializing in internationalized software).
Harry Ruda holds an MBA from Boston College, an MS in Operations Research from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS in Management Science, also from RPI.
